Customize reminders for tasks

Would love to be able to customize the automated reminders for tasks. For example, registering staff doesn't have a deadline until September so I wish I could set the reminders to start 6 weeks or 1 month before (and not now). Alternatively, it would be helpful if the reminders started 1-2 months before the task is due.
